国稀酒造は、北海道の増毛町にあり。創業は１８８２年で、２０２２年に１４０周年を迎えました。

国稀酒造は、初代本間泰蔵が明治１５年に創業しました。本間泰蔵は新潟県佐渡出身で、明治６年に小樽へ渡り呉服屋で修業した後、明治８年に増毛で呉服・雑貨商を営み始めました。

増毛町の背後には、一千五百メートル級の山々が連なる増毛山地がそびえています。冬に日本海が運んでくる大雪が、暑寒別の山々に降り積もり、それが長い年月をかけて伏流水となって、豊富で良質な水を酒蔵にもたらします。

このような恵まれた環境で造る国稀のお酒は、すっきりとして洗練された味わいを特徴としています。日本海から揚がる海産品を使った和食、そして洋食にもよく合います。最北の酒蔵、「国稀」のファンは全国、今では海外にも拡がっています。

Kunimare brewery is located in Mashike Town, Hokkaido. Established in 1882, it celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2022.

Kunimare brewery was established by its first-generation owner, Taizo Honma, in the 15th year of the Meiji era (1882). Taizo Honma was originally from Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture. He moved to Otaru in 1873 and apprenticed at a draper(Kimono store). In 1875, he started running a draper and sundries store in Mashike.

Behind Mashike Town, the Mashike Mountain Range, with peaks reaching over one thousand five hundred meters. In winter, heavy snow brought by the Sea of Japan accumulates on the mountains of the Mashike Mountain Range. Over a long period of time, this snowfall transforms into underground water, providing the brewery with abundant and high-quality water.

The sake produced by Kunimare in such a favorable environment is known for its refreshing and refined taste. It pairs well with both traditional Japanese cuisine that utilizes seafood sourced from the Sea of Japan and Western-style dishes. The fan base of "Kunimare" the northernmost brewery, extends throughout Japan and has even spread to overseas markets.
